Hudson Real Estate Finance is a preferred equity investor that focuses on investments in HUD-financed projects. Our knowledge of the strengths and limitations of HUD’s multifamily and healthcare loan programs allows us to tailor solutions to meet the needs of the individual project and individual owner.

Leadership Team

Joseph Carroll

President
Hudson Real Estate Finance is led by Joseph Carroll. Prior to Hudson Real Estate Finance, Joe worked on both the legal and business sides of structured finance. He joined Hudson Real Estate Finance from Barclays Capital where he had several roles, including the management of a team that developed and placed bespoke structured credit products. Most recently he was part of the Barclays Prime Services business.
Prior to Barclays, Joe played a significant role in the development of the structured credit business at Deutsche Bank and Brightwater Capital Management. He began his finance career at Bankers Trust in 1996. Joe is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the University of Michigan Law School.

Dan Ford

Head of Origination
As Head of Origination, Dan Ford focuses on working with lenders and sponsors to find and develop opportunities to place investments.

Immediately prior to Hudson Real Estate Finance, Dan was Senior Vice President at GEM Equity, working with sponsors to structure capitalization strategies for development and acquisition projects. His other prior experience includes executive and production roles at Hawthorne Companies, Urban Pace and Cassidy Turley. Dan graduated from Penn State and the Kogod School of Business at American University.

Nick Moore

Head of Accounting
Nick Moore is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Hudson Real Estate Finance’s accounting and reporting functions. In addition to leading the accounting department, Nick collaborates with other members of HREF to perform asset management duties.
Prior to joining Hudson Real Estate Finance, Nick was a Senior Accountant on the Investment Fund Team at JBG Smith where his portfolio included mixed-use, affordable housing, and REIT assets. Prior to JBG Smith, Nick was a Senior Assurance Associate who effectively led audit engagements primarily in the Real Estate industry. Nick is a licensed CPA in the state of Virginia and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from James Madison University.
